Can I replace my wood surface pool table with acrylic?

I’m thinking about alternative surfaces for my pool table. It’s wood right now and is slightly warped. I live in Florida where the humidity is insane, so wood isn’t a good replacement option anyway. Slate is very expensive and heavy, so here’s what I’m thinking:

1. Acrylic or plexiglass sheeting, 1″ thick
2. PermaSlate (Can’t find where to buy this!)
3. Hard polyurethane

What do you think? Any ideas?
