Can I use regular felt for Pool table felt installation?

I picked up a table for free, and thought I might replace the felt to make it look better. I have the table disassembled already and it would be easy. Can I use felt from a fabric store for the table or does it have to be ‘pool table’ felt?

      Regular Felt will go out of Shape, so don;t do this.
      Its best to buy from a Company manufacturing Billards and Pool Tables.

      The red color came off onto everything get ahold of the players hands the look of your local pool hall or billiards retailer and have some money by using regular felt so thats what he used not only was it the balls the slowest.
