Where You Can Find Cheap Pool Tables For Sale

Monday, March 22nd, 2010
Davi db asked:

If you’re looking for a deal on a pool table you should definitely shop around before making your decision. Before you begin shopping for your new cheap pool table you need to think about what color and brand, will the store you buy the pool table from install it for you? There are many things you should consider before going shopping for a cheap pool table. Several different place that sell cheap pool tables. To name a few Wal-Mart, Billiardex, and Brunswick

Wal-mart, you can find anything here!

Wal-mart would be a great place to start shopping for a pool table. Not only because they have so many choices, but because their prices are so low. If you don’t find something in Wal-mart, you can always order it from their online store. They have many selections and price ranges for each person, a steal for your money would definitely be a good way to describe Wal-marts high quality pool tables. When looking for a cheap pool table you want to shop around. So many stores only sell certain colors or are only selling to certain price ranges, but with Wal-mart, you will never feel like you’re getting the bad end of the deal.

So many choices and such helpful staff!

Brunswick is the place to buy all cheap pool tables, with so many choices and styles you will have a hard time deciding which to get. The many different styles of pool tables Brunswick sells consists of European Style,  Traditional Style tables, Contemporary Style, the Contender Series Style, Competition Style Pool Tables, and classic Brunswick tables. Brunswick has sales going on year around. There is never a time that you can not get a certain style or brand of pool tables, the sales that Brunswick has are phenomenal. There are also Brunswick stores all over the world, so no matter where you live you can still play a good game of pool.

Looking for a classy, but cheap pool table? Try Billiardex!

Billiardex also has a great selection for all price ranges, they’re friendly, and extremely helpful, more than likely, you won’t go into one of their stores without the pool table you went in there for. If you have any questions, they are always waiting to help you find something cheap with good quality. Not only do they sell cheap pool tables but they also sell all of the accessories you will be needing to go along with your new pool table such as: table lights, cues, cue racks, table brushes, and table racks. Also, they provide a nation wide installation, where ever you are, they will come to you to make sure that you are fully satisfied with what you bought after they have installed it.

Who said you couldn’t ask for help?

When all else fails, and you don’t know where else to look for a cheap pool table, try going to your local pool hall, they would be more than happy to let you know where they get their pool tables from. Buying three or four pool tables, poker machines, alcohol, and providing electricity to their building isn’t cheap. So more than likely they searched for a good deal on their pool tables before purchasing one.

Pool Tables - Top Tips for Buying a Pool Table

Friday, March 19th, 2010
Peggy Paye asked:

If you are considering purchasing a pool table then there a number of key elements that should be taken into account before making that all important final decision.

1. Budget

This is probably where most people start when looking at various options and given today’s financial climate it becomes even more important. In order to purchase a table with the longer term in mind it’s worth considering how much money you need to buy the right table rather than how much money you have today - which may mean you end up with a short term option that you simply find you need to replace in a very short period of time. Pool tables range in price considerably based on some of the key elements that are referenced below.

2. Size

Pool tables come in a number of different sizes (generally 7′, 8′ or 9′) and although you may have the money to purchase any one of the available options it’s worth giving careful consideration to the room you have available for your pool table. You should not just take into account the actual size of the pool table but also the required playing space around the table. It’s not worth having an 8′ pool table in a space that means your pool cue is wedged up against a fireplace or a window when trying to make that all important shot.

3. Branded/Non Branded

There are different types of branding to consider in respect of buying a pool table. There is the manufacturers brand, such as Olhausen and then there is the design brand, such as Harley Davidson. The two elements teamed together often determine the end price of the table. You could expect to pay in the region of $2500 upwards for an Olhausen 7ft pool table. However, if you want a Harley Davidson Olhausen pool table then that could increase the price to approximately $3000 upwards. Saying that, your friends will always be there to play on a Harley Davidson Olhausen Pool Table wouldn’t they?

4. Slate/Non Slate

Slate or non slate - that is the question. Well actually, if you ask most purists they would say it’s not a question at all, it has to be slate. OK, let me back up, first we should cover what the slate actually is. Underneath the billiard felt is the play surface. Traditionally this has always been slate and is generally the preferred option. Slate gives a even play surface that will last for years. Saying that, non slate options have come a long way. There are now materials like accuslate which is essentially a high density fiber board but the quality is so good that you actually get a 7 year warranty with it. Given the choice, go for slate, it’s definitely the best option. There are however a couple of reasons you might not want to choose slate. The first is cost, real slate table are a lot more expensive and the second is weight, if you table is going to be somewhere where you need to move it slate really isn’t an option. Once a slate table is there it’s there for good. Slate usually comes in three pieces, each piece weighs in the region of a couple of hundred pounds. Not often used any more, slate can come in one single piece. The major disadvantage is the weight of the slate in one piece. The advantage is that you have no seams as you would with a 3 piece option.

5. Felt/Accessories

There are many options to consider as accessories for your pool table. Starting with the felt, be aware that not all pool tables come supplied with the felt and you would then need to purchase this separately as an additional cost to the overall price you pay. Even if your pool table does come with felt, you can purchase felt in many different colors, designs and qualities to enhance the overall look and feel of your pool table. Once you have your table and felt then the world is your oyster as far as accessories are concerned. Ensure that you have a good quality pool table brush to protect your investment. You will obviously need pool cues and once you have them consider a wall mounted cue rack, standalone cue rack or cue claw to store your cues when they are not in use, which won’t be that often of course! Other accessories include pool balls, ball racks, cue chalk, bridge cues and cue cases amongst others

6. On Line/Retail

If you buy a pool table on line then unless the e-tailer is based in your state you are not likely to have to pay sales tax which can make quite a big difference on the end price of a pool table. If you buy from a retail store then you are always going to be paying sales tax on top of the final price you are given. That said, then there is a clear advantage in dealing face to face with someone in a store as you have the advantage of being able to negotiate yourself the best price. This is not as easy on line, however, still possible if you are prepared to pick up the phone and talk to them. The best e-tailers have freephone customer services numbers with real people at the end of the phone! You don’t get anything if you don’t ask! The advantage of dealing with an on line store is that their overheads are lower than a physical retail store and so the cost to you should be less.

7. Shipping

If you are purchasing a pool table of any sort the cost of shipping can either be built into the price that you see and include FREE shipping or the shipping can be shown as a flat rate or volume/weight based charge in addition to the base price of the pool table. Be aware if you are looking on line for a pool table and comparison shopping not all e-tailers show prices in the same way. Be careful to ensure you are comparing like with like and that ultimately you end up with the best deal.

8. Installation

Again, be aware that most pool tables are not delivered to you fully assembled. In fact some tables require qualified installers to ensure they are set up to the manufacturers required standards. Installation is likely to be a further cost on top of the price quoted either on line or in a retail store. If you buy from a store then be sure to ask what the cost of installation is and when it can be completed. If you are buying on line then be sure you have access to someone capable of setting up your pool table.

Hopefully these tips will prove useful to you in your search for the perfect pool table.

With all those Pool tables for sale, which one do you choose?

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010
George Pennwood asked:

There are loads of different types of pool tables for sale these days, which one do you go for, or more likely which is the cheapest you can get and still have a reasonable game on?

The answer depends on a number of factors, firstly what size room do you have? For a 7 ft (214 cm) table you need a room of 17 ft (518 cm) by 14 ft (426 cm) to be comfortable, although you could get away with shaving a ft (30 cm) off each dimension if you don’t mind resorting to short cues for the odd shot or two.  As a rough rule of thumb add 10 ft (305 cm) onto the table dimensions to get an idea of how much room you need. Cues are 57 inches long (145 cm) as standard which is nearly 5 ft.

Also can the table stay up in the room, or do you need to fold away the table after use so you can use the room for something else?

So before you dash out and buy a pool table lets go through the options: the folding or fold away table is the entry point for pool tables and they are really kid’s toys. They start at 4 ft or so up to 6 ft and are made from wood, usually MDF, and have a wooden playing surface which will be prone to warping after a couple of years max. The good points are they can be put away after use and are light compared to their slate bed cousins. The downside is that they will not play as well as a proper slate bed table, but the bigger 6 ft tables can still give you a reasonable game and go for the tables with wooden legs as these won’t wobble quite as much as the tables with metal legs. Not for the serious pool player, but great for the kids (and dad) to learn the game on. Cost from £50 to £200.

The next rung up is the domestic pool table which is a wooden top pool table with a solid base. These start at 6 ft (183 cm) and 7 (214 cm) and 8 ft (244 cm) versions are available. These tables are about as good as you are going to get without paying the extra for a slate bed table. The advantages are they are a very solid table, no wobble worries here and they will give you a reasonable game and use the same size balls as the pub pool tables (or near enough) The down side of course is that they are a permanent feature and are not designed to be put away after use. They also look the part as well but cost considerably more than the foldaway tables. These tables are the one to get if you want a decent game and can’t afford the slate bed pool tables for sale; indeed I have seen some example of these in clubs. Cost from £200 to £400.

The best and for the ultimate playing experience, a slate bed pool table is the one to go for from the 6 ft and 7 ft pub pool table types to the majestic 8 and 9 ft American pool tables. These are the tables the pros play on and will last for ever, no warping worries here. The good thing about these tables is they are solid, look great and are an impressive piece of furniture. If you have the room and can afford it go for one of these. A full size English pool table is 7 ft (214 cm) by 4 ft (122 cm) and uses a 2 inch (51 mm) ball, the American pool tables are 8 ft (244 cm) and 9 ft (275 cm) long and use the bigger 2 ¼ (57 mm) inch balls. The cost is from £650 for the English pool tables to £3000 for the big American tables.

So when you are looking at all those pool tables for sale you’ll be better informed about which one to choose.
